wow thank you for that very in depth response! I am aware there's alot of behringer here, I looked at this setup as my modular with training wheels. Learn the basics, then move onto more advanced modules. My plan is to move onto the original manufactures, or DIY kits when I have a better idea of what I am looking at and what I'm doing.

i will definitely look into O&C and the intellijel quad.

I'm a big fan of the Ornament & Crime. Quite a few manufacturers make them nowadays, After Later and Cal Synth have a nice 8hp version. With stock firmware it can be a great flexible quad quantizer or a modulation source of many flavors. There's also the Hemispheres firmware that lets you run 2 different programs on each half, so you could have a 2 channel quantizer plus 2 channels of fun modulation or logic or whatever combination you want.

Pam's (New or Pro) Workshop is also great as a clock and modulation source, and can be set up as a quantizer as well.

For great modulation, Xaoc Batumi is a classic for a reason, and Behringer has their clone if you don't want to shell out for the original.

The other thing I'd very strongly recommend is a quad cascading VCA, a la the Intellijel Quad VCA or a Mutable Instruments Veils clone, and again Behringer has their version of it now too.

If you could only get two more modules, I'd say the Ornament and Crime and a quad VCA would be my recommendation.

Also if you haven't already looked up the Maths Illustrated Supplement, that will teach you a ton in the way of voltages and the many different uses for your Abacus. You'll probably want a second Abacus after that : )

AFAIK stores in the US don't include VAT since it varies by state so manufacturers' recommended retail prices do not tend to include it. It is different in (most of) the EU.

That, I personally find weird. I understand your point, but whenever I visit a musicstore online it shows prices including VAT. Perhaps they should limit it to mention a retail price including VAT on modulargrid.

I'd like to see the Marketplace region (and Reverb offer choice) stored in my user preferences. It'd be nice to not always have to reselect those.

Also, some manufacturers enter the price including VAT, some without (especially those from Northern America). Add a typical european VAT of around 20% to Multigrain and you're in the ballpark of current retail prices.

Hello, I can get CV and Trigger out of tracks B, C and D of SIG, but not out of track A. What setting am I missing?

because some manufacturers don't update the price. Some do it.

As an example; I was looking on Modulargrid for Intellijel's Multigrain. The set price is approx. €432. However, in stores the actual price is around €539, which is a huge difference. Why are these prices set so low in Modulargrid?

What do rising sea-levels sound like? How might we listen to the temperature of the oceans? What rhythms can we hear in the growing recurrence of hurricanes/cylones? Can we imagine mounting CO2 emissions as a crescendo of dissonance?

This piece uses a data sonification module (Loud Numbers) to translate spreadsheets of climate-change data into MIDI cc values. An interface (CV.OCD) then converts the MIDI to voltages to control my Eurorack system. ADDAC’s Swell Physics’ CV inputs for swell size, agitation, offset, etc. are ideal for modelling the complex, unpredictable effect of rising sea levels, sea temperatures, and storm intensity, on ocean waves. Meanwhile, Disting EX’s “spectral freeze” algorithm is processing ocean-related songs.

Would be great if the format, eg eurorack, serge, buchla etc once selected could be stored in local storage or a cookie or whatever so that you dont have to switch for each visit (if eurorack is not your primary choice) as its currently by default.

Hi, i found two options for this:
1) "offset" option in the LEN(gth) menu. "hold ALT while turning the encoder to change the offset of the starting stage. " - i found this not as useful to set offset in LEN menu but instead modulating the offset via CV-in or Modlane.

2)"Skip" function also works, skip the stages until the one you want to start from and then "You can quickly swap which steps are skipped and which are un-skipped if you assign
“Skip Invert” as the destination of a CTRL knob, AUX Input (X, Y or Z) input or a MOD Lane."

hey there, why no other company go after this special filter? it is really hard to recrate? From what I remember was made witthout any rare filter chip and can be recreated with equivalent components

I recently got a Benjolin, its a weird old box of frogs isn't it!
Its a nice looking White and Gold one from Meta Audio Labs
Lots of cross modulation going on, Ochd is modulating the benjolin and the benjolin is modulating Ochd, Sloths is also modulating the Benjolin and bringing the reverb'd parts in and out on the SSF Vortices.

Its certainly interesting to play with!

New to eurorack, this started about 5 years ago when my wife purchased the cre8audio nifty bundle for me for xmas, been picking up the behringer modules over the past few years so I can learn without breaking the bank. The plan was/is to start small and move onto other manufacturers/builders/diy once i had the fundamentals down. Now I have a decent amount of modules, and am in love with the endless possibilities, but I feel like I am missing something, clock? quantizer?

I think I have plenty of oscillators, I have another behringer 182 sequencer that is not racked.

I don't own the uJove but from the video it sounds a bit like the Vostok Atlas, a bit more of a squelchy resonance but the buttery smoothness is there when the res is turned down. That might compliment the other filters you own, unless you're after something more aggressive.

If you're into DIY kits then I think the Atlas is worth checking out (thonk are out of stock atm though), both in terms of the complimentary filter response and the flexibility of having 4 filters in a usable space. Good value for money in my opinion.

If it's a case of picking one from the list, then I would go for the uJove. Has a nice range of sounds from the aforementioned butteryness to some pretty knarly ones with the built-in feedback path.

I like the organisation, and I think myself it's good to group modules by the same manufacturer as well. And for example to put all the filters together. Although it shows we have more filters than we need! Perhaps not enough oscillators. There could be sense in organising the layers in a relatively logical/standard pathway. If you start with sequencers, then have oscillators in the adjacent row so that cable lengths are shorter and paths more obvious. Then perhaps filters, then envelopes, VCAs, mixers, effects. So I like your rows, not sure the rows are in the right order. Although LfOs might want a mixer nearby.

I don't if you have come across Lucas Marchal (dc11), but he makes deep/hypnotic techno, and has some great videos on the Verbos modules. You might find them interesting to see how he's patching his system.

Hi! first of all many thanks for the response and noted about attaching link instead of picture. After reading your comment and spending some time in modular grid I added couple of modules and swapped others but didn't find place for all I'd wish. At this stage without having the chance to play with the system is very hard for me to judge what is essential and what could be added or swapped. I know building a system is very personal but at the moment I'm lost about how i can improve the system so I'm open for advice :P Anyways, here is the current state. Cheers!

You should post a link instead of a picture, easier for us to take a look. It looks like you've thought through it, and clearly have an aesthetic. My two cents are that you will likely need more VCAs to handle envelopes and modulation and you might want to consider some utilities to help you manipulate the system, like switches or routers or matrix mixers, particularly if you'll be playing live. Also, I always recommend utilities like sample and hold, comparators, or random voltage generators for folks, as they are just really fun and damn useful, but it's hard to conceptualize how they can be used until you play with them.

Hi! I want to start building my own system to play at the studio but also thinking about performing live. Mike parker and Oscar mulero ar some of the names I follow. Percussion will be taken care of by an external drum machine and I was thinking to add a DFAM or Labyrinth to the system or just leave it outside the case to leave space for different modules. You can see in the picture what I've planned for now. Any suggestions about how to improve are really welcome. Cheers!

This skif was built to accompany the Moog Labrinth and PWM Malevolent, where I felt the BSC & SCE would shine as a noise voice/random sequencer alond side the Caudal, & DB square wave sub octives. I get alot of "new(to me)" or hard to get tones out of this, compared to my other HW sources. Between this and the malevolent playground rack, I feel my modular needs are covered.
