I come from a keyboard / guitar background, and like to have a module that will allow me to export
Eurorack cv to a guitar pedal and bring back in (preferably in stereo). Cheaper than Eurorack modules, guitar
pedals make for interesting sound effects (the Drolo Stretchweaver pedal -- wow!). Even an EQ pedal works
well for less money. No external sound effects in your system?

Bored Brain has some of those interactive modules with external guitar pedals, and others. Worth exploring!

A dual filter with interesting routings, inspired by the Korg MS-20.
Mostly surface mount pre-installed, but since it’s a stack of 4 circuit boards it’s an interesting build.
Lots of sonic possibilities, sounds really interesting. A good kit.

Hi Knut, MG has a lot images so Cloudflare should work especially for users far away from the cloud/server location so it worth it keeping it alive.

I am new to Eurorack but not synths and hardware.

QUESTIONS below in bold.

I sequence using Hapax Squatp with MIDI + CV hardware synths to my DAW via Mixer. Ive got a Crap outboard compressor if needed.
I have used Softube Modular for fun FX racks but hate having to turn on the computer for FX

This my plan

SETUP: Direct Out from Synth Patchbay (in both Mono and Stereo!) to this rack for studio synths. (Super6. MS1. MonoPoly, Hydrasynth, TB3, TR8). CVS and MIDI from Hapax
PROPOSED CASE: Cre8Audio Nifty Case (saw Divkid use it. looked great for my size) Agree???
GOAL: To layer effects on Mono and Stereo synths. Fully expecting to record in per channel rather than run multiple channels of audio through this. Its for creativity, control and fun outside the box. i can always use Valhalla etc al in the DAW for static sounds in the final mix. I have a Midiverb for generic Verb. I want to modulate effects to get more movement in sound.

HAPAX provides options for CV step automation and LFOS and envelopes but id like to generate some of these internally hence the Abacus.

I wont buy the original Rings and Clouds but MomoModular do versions om Etsy that look great

So I have:
- VCA to adjust CV and or Audio signals? Do i need another for Audio out? I can adjust CV levels with Abacus
- Maths / Abacus. will try and get the original.
- Rings. love it. Having It
- Clouds. seems fun and right up my street sonically
- General FX. i just wanted a decent Reverb Delay module for general usage without going in the DAW. Any better suggestions
- Filter. Thus is Ripples but stereo. seems a winner to me?? Do you agree
- Mixer. Figure i wont want to do everything in series and also could blend input audio here if needed? ** Is this a good addition**

Any suggestions for other modules. key misses functionality wise
i feel so Freauency Mod might be a good addition?? Thoughts.

I have A Strymon Nightsky which I could swap for the Modular Starlab Id need to change case. it is space hungry so not sure whether i should bother. i think id prefer the workflow with Starlab but i'd need a bigger case

An ambient piece featuring the Moog Subharmonicon’s sequencer with Disting EX’s multisample player. Detailed patch notes in the video.

1. At first you probably need a bigger a case and more fundamental utilities, like attenuverters, polarizer, envelopes, lfos .....
   Its all mentioned in recent posts.

My first impression, I might missunderstood it at first glance is:

1. drums:
   come from the jomox drummaschine // you can just use samples from the web and put in your /Digitakt, elektron samples, computer or sampleplayer of choice

2. synth hook

- seems to be the combination of a analog complex vco processed with a modulated filterbank.
you could try to emulate this with different cheaper vcos and filterbanks - but I guess the particular Verbos Filterbank has a special character. So it will be propably hard to come exactly near.
But there are a few cheaper filterbanks, you could combine a fixed filterbanks with a vca.
Like a Zlob VC F3DB, ADDAC 601 .....

3. Sequencing
   Mimetis digitalis is nice, but Im not sure, if this enough to get organic sequences. Maybe better a sequencer with more settings per stage. Maybe it gets more unstable and floating or more wonky with crazy settings on pams to reset and shift the mimetic? I had good results with marbles + mimetic.

4. DFAM is fun as hell, but you could add them later.

5. I heard on a crappy PA, but the examples I heard seem to sound a bit cold and vintage vibed.
   I guess a analog mixer and some hardware for analog coloring and maybe sparse digital delay - could be useful

- maybe you can get also close to this with a software emulation from UAD or something like that.

Just tried it out with the Benjolin. It seemed like the pulse happened at the peak of the triangle, so I just inverted the pulse to make it happen at the start of the triangle and got some pretty satisfying results!
So here's what I'd do with your system specifically: Run whichever VCO/VCF combo you'd like into a VCA. Run the triangle A out of the benjolin to the CV in on the vca. Run the Pulse A out of the benjolin to the A * B + C to invert it, and use that out to clock the turing machine as well as the sample and hold. Run one of those into the quantizer and out to the 1v/o of the VCO, and the other to the CV in on benjolin osc A. Use any other modulation sources you'd like on the filter for a fun time : )

To be honest I dont know DC11 yet, so I dont know which kind of sound and modules you are looking for.

Can you give sound examples of DC11?
Where can we see his rack? - to figure out alternatives.

I don't remember how the pulse and triangle waves line up on either the Benjolin or the NLC Dual LFOs, but if the pulse is at the very start of the triangle cycle, you might be able to use the pulse to trigger the random voltage and use the triangle to control the VCA. Even better, trigger two random voltages and use one for pitch and the other to modulate the rate of the LFO. For me the real fun of Krell patches is modulating the rise and fall of a looping envelope, so I'd recommend getting any kind of envelope that has cv control over rise and fall, and the end of cycle trigger makes everything easier too. Hi guys with this rack I do pretty generic techno, but after a year of improv, I'd like to decide on a genre to focus on. I like the sound of DC11 as a very good artist, and I would like to pursue that path. The point is that its rack is completely different and also very expensive hahaha. How can I get closer to those sounds, perhaps integrating with some modules (I still have space available) or replacing some of them?

Could be tricky without something with an EOC (End Of Cycle) output, though it is possible without EOC it just won't quite self-trigger so you would have to look for a random trigger from someowhere else, I would look at vids from Robin Vincent here - and Red Means Recording here -

I am reading 1984 by Haruki Murakami, It's a thrilling ride through Tokyo with a lot of suspense and mystery.It wasn't intentional but I think this patch was subconsciously inspired by this amazing novel. It is slightly different than my usual patches. Normally I design and map out my performances. This performance is mostly improvised. I created an arp, a basic bassline and I used a lot of modulation. Then I just pressed play with no plan and I started performing the patch. Let's see where this midnight ride through Tokyo will take me, I have no idea as well. Enjoy the ride!

In case of 3 VCO. As long as I know, 3 Oscillators is a pretty common number.

Theoretically it should be fine. It's a lot of voices at once, but that could be good for layering or audio rate modulation or something.

Mavis is already blowing my mind,
and I'm only a few days into this journey.
so I'm feeling good.

I've taken about 15 pages of written notes from watching youtube videos about Mavis
I'm now working through the notes, every page is taking me to a lot sonic places

My original idea was to take steps module by module towards a basic Doepfer setup....
But i watched a bunch of videos about Mavis, and it felt like the best starting point for learning.

In fact, probqbly the next thing will be moog DFAM, which wasn't originally how I expected things would go.

The Doepfer basic VCO may be a bit of a 'stranded asset' for a while.
But maybe not. We'll see.
My plan was to get two Doepfer VCOs, and seriously learn the principles of osc sync, hands on, from first principles.
That could still happen along the way.

Power Supply (uZeus 4HP) specs:
+12V: 2000 mA
-12V: 500 mA
+5V: 170 mA

Doepfer basic VCO A-110-1 needs:
+12V: 90 mA
-12V: 20 mA
+5V: 0 mA

Moog Mavis needs:
+12V: 112 mA
-12V: 0 mA
+5V: 0 mA

you can simply sum up those numbers for each power line (+12V, -12V, +5V) and compare it with the numbers of your power supply. as a recommendation you should not exceed 75-80% of the given power supply

If those numbers are correct (please verify yourself) it is totally safe to use it for your 2 modules. Further you have a lot of headroom for more power hungry modules left...

3. A Moog Mavis

I know i can use the Mavis in it's own case, but i want to put them both on the rack

My super basic question is, am i safe to power these two off the Tiptop's power units's ribbon connection without blowing them up

and/or do i need to know anything or adjust anything here?

I have this module, and the function is great.When I first received the module, it did not fit into my rack. I reached out to Omnitone and they let me know there was a small number of modules produced that have this problem. They immediatley offered to send me a new module, free of charge. I have recieved the new module, along with a kind note from Tristan and Liz, and it sounds great. This is a really fun module to use, as you set parameters and then generate waveforms till you get what you want. Super fun and easy to use. I would highly reccomend.

Thanks, I am looking if the Cloudflare servers make any noticable sense. Have no user reports about that. For me it does not feel faster so maybe, we just fix it back to .net and 301 everything like you said.

After starting this thread, I was looking for a solution that would work for a tiny space where I am not allowed to mount anything on the walls (rented flat). And I chose the most difficult option: to build a cable organiser myself. It took me several tries and this is what I got 2 years later:

It does the job for a small system and fits nicely on the desk.

Hi guys, I've recently found out this secondary domain.
I'm a long time user of modulargrid and I hope I could help with the SEO and the UX of your project.

I worked for a leading web marketing agency in Italy and IMHO even if your programmer set a "canonical" URL reference on the .com domain to the .net one, it's a little bit strange (also for Google) to have a fully accessible alternative site to browse.
It could generate confusion when people share links and worst it can diminish the inboud linking effect that usually boost up SEO or, in other words, this situation can make your pages less findable on Google.

The solution is to redirect (301 redirection, it's important for the developer to know) all incoming traffic directed towards the .com domain to the .net one. In this way every previous link will continue to work and you cak keep the alternative domain in a safe SEO way.

PS. You can set cloudflare to handle the .net domain OR you can invert my suggestion keeping the .com one and redirecting the .net one.

Luckily when you make music together you can have both!
In this video we combine Nautilus and Sealegs and we loved what came out of our synths.The music actually made us think of the ocean and waves, so we were on theme. Please enjoy this nautical trip!

As usual, an excellent user guide and build guide which will tell you a lot about making electronics for music (or otherwise), go to their web site and download this even if you don’t buy the module, it’s free.

Pretty straightforward build, good 3-4th kit because of some tight soldering.

And it sounds really really good! I tried some non-standard things during the demo and this is a very versatile unit, I’ll be putting this in the main rack.

Contact the manufacturer, otherwise familiarize yourself with basic principles of compression and you should be good.
