EarthQuaker Devices Astral Destiny - Octal Octave Reverberation Odyssey

EQD's flagship ambient reverb pedal - eight reverb modes, eight editable presets, expression/CV input, flexi-switching bypass with trails, and the Stretch footswitch that doubles decay length with pitch bending. This is the pedal that turns any rig into a spaceship. Currently $249 new at Sweetwater; used units with box routinely sell $165-200+. This is priced as a fully tested, no-box working unit.

Bench-tested - every function verified:

• Powers on cleanly via standard 9V center-negative supply

• Both footswitches (Activate + Stretch) confirmed working - LEDs illuminate correctly (amber for Activate, red for Stretch)

• All 8 reverb modes tested and producing correct effect:

  • Abyss (massive reverb, no octave)

  • Shimmer (upper octave in the tail)

  • Sub (lower octave in the tail)

  • Sub Shimmer (upper + lower octave combined)

  • Astral (upper + lower octave with regenerating tail)

  • Ascend (upward pitch bending on sustained notes)

  • Descend (downward pitch bending on sustained notes)

  • Cosmos (regenerating fifth in the tail)

• All 7 knobs (Mode, Length, Mix, Preset, Depth, Rate, Tone) turn smoothly - no scratchiness, no dead spots, full sweep on each

• Tails bypass confirmed - reverb decays naturally when effect is bypassed, no hard cutoff

• EXP jack on left side accepts any TRS expression pedal or CV (0 - 3.3V range)

What was NOT tested:

• Expression pedal input (no TRS expression pedal on bench - jack is physically clean and undamaged)

• Preset save/recall across power cycles (modes tested live, did not verify preset memory persistence)

Cosmetic condition:

• Sparkle white enclosure in good shape - light surface wear consistent with pedalboard use, nothing deep

• All original EQD knobs present, straight, and secure

• Footswitches firm and responsive, no wobble

• Bottom label (S/N 2333) has a small lift on one corner - cosmetic only, see photos

• No cracks, no dents, no stripped screws, no structural issues

Sometimes issues do arise in transit and can be caused by rough handling, old/brittle wiring, or a component failing under the rigors of shipping. Major issues are covered by insurance - that's why every package ships fully insured.

Many issues are minor and fall under normal user maintenance. These are things any buyer of used electronics should be comfortable handling:

• Pots can be scratchy or develop a flat spot from use. DeoxIT solves most of these.

• Switches occasionally need to be cleaned or adjusted to make better contact.
