Menatone Red Snapper Overdrive, point-to-point version — serial RS-05-042, built August 1, 2005, hand signed by Menatone on the bottom plate. Unit #42 of the hand-wired run.The Red Snapper is Menatone's most celebrated design — a JFET-based overdrive with exceptional transparency and touch response. The point-to-point version is the hand-wired variant: each unit assembled individually on perfboard with hand-selected and matched transistors (four gold-topped selected JFETs visible in the interior). The PCB version is common; the point-to-point is not. Four controls give precise tonal control: VOL sets output level, GAIN sets drive amount, CUT rolls off the high-frequency harshness as gain increases, BITE brings high-end clarity and definition back in. The combination of CUT and BITE makes the Red Snapper work across a wider range of amps and guitars than most overdrives. Runs on dual 9V with exceptional clean headroom and dynamics. - JFET-based overdrive — transparent, touch-responsive - Point-to-point hand-wired construction — perfboard with matched transistors- VOL / CUT / BITE / GAIN controls - 9V battery / 9V PSU operation- Serial RS-05-042 — 2005 hand-wired production - "Point to Point Wired in the USA" — printed on enclosure First owner.
