The Boss BF-2 Flanger is a classic analog guitar effects pedal introduced in 1980, known for its rich, sweeping modulation sounds. It works by blending your dry signal with a slightly delayed copy, creating everything from subtle chorus-like movement to dramatic “jet plane” whooshing effects.
It features four simple controls—Manual, Depth, Rate, and Resonance—that let you shape the intensity, speed, and character of the modulation. This flexibility allows it to cover a wide range of tones, from gentle shimmer to intense, metallic sweeps.
Built in Boss’s compact, durable enclosure, the BF-2 became a staple on many pedalboards and is still valued today for its warm, unmistakably “vintage” flanger sound, even though it was discontinued in 2001.
