Look up onThe FT-2 is one of those slightly overlooked mid-'80s Boss pedals that starts to make sense the moment you actually play through it. It is not just a simple auto-wah — the filter responds to your picking dynamics, and the original Boss manual shows just how much control is built in, with Dynamic Up, Dynamic Down, and Manual modes plus Sens, Cutoff Frequency, and Q controls. Boss also described it as useful not only for guitar, but for bass and keyboard as well.
What I like about the FT-2 is that it can go from a smooth, touch-sensitive sweep to a more fixed, vocal, cocked-wah kind of tone without feeling gimmicky. The Cutoff control changes the character of the pedal in a big way, and the Expression In jack lets you use it with a Roland EV-5 for wah-style operation when you want a more hands-on feel. It was a short-lived Japan-made model from the late 1980s, which is part of why clean black-label examples are still such a fun find today.
Accessories
Main unit only
Please use a BOSS ACA adaptor or a compatible 12V center-negative adaptor with this Japanese-made pedal. PSA-type adaptors run at a lower voltage and may not power it correctly. The original documentation specifies the ACA series adaptor, and current replacement listings for the FT-2 also identify it as ACA-powered.
Condition
Cosmetically very clean for its age
