The Lil' RAT takes the full RAT 2 circuit — identical chipset, identical components, identical signal path — and squeezes it into a micro enclosure just over 2 inches wide, occupying less than half the pedalboard real estate of the full-sized RAT2. No compromises on tone, just a smaller footprint.The RAT's defining characteristic is its hard-clipping distortion circuit, which produces a uniquely filthy, harmonically rich saturation that sits somewhere between overdrive, distortion, and fuzz depending on how it's set. At low gain settings it functions as a punchy, fuel-injected dirty boost. Pushed further it delivers classic rock and blues distortion. At maximum it crosses into thick, snarling, fuzz-like grunge with near-endless sustain. This tonal range has made the RAT one of the most versatile dirt pedals ever built — equally capable of hot-rodding a high-gain British head, coaxing sweet overdrive out of an American-style combo, or slamming a clean amp into glorious, saturated chaos.The legendary Filter control is what sets the RAT apart from conventional tone knobs. Turned fully counterclockwise it lets all frequencies through — bright, cutting, and clear. Turned clockwise it progressively rolls off the high end, smoothing out brittle top-end harshness and dialing in a warmer, cranked-amp character. It also makes the Lil' RAT an excellent stacker with other drives, boosts, and fuzzes. The iconic glowing red "A" LED lights up when engaged — a beloved detail carried over faithfully from the original. Top-mounted jacks keep the pedal compact and tidy on a board.
