Equipped with a real ECC83 preamp tube, the Blackstar Dept. 10 Boost pedal is the perfect way to punch up the input of any amplifier. I prefer a 12AU7 or 12AY7 instead of the ECC83/12AX7 as I use these as clean boost pedals at the end of the effects loop. This gives me plenty of clean boost without a lot of hiss and noise. A boost pedal is a formidable tool for getting the most out of any amplifier — it not only raises your volume for solos, but it also elicits livelier tone out of your amp's preamp section or can drive the power section of your amp by being at the end of the effects loop just before the power amplification . I use these in the effect loop of my quilter amps and you can not tell that I am using a solid state amp. Whether you're looking to add true tube richness to a solid-state amplifier, or you want to squeeze the maximum mojo out of your tube amp, you'll be pleased with the Blackstar Dept. 10 Boost pedal. This is a real high voltage tube preamp with EQ that can give very clean boost or mild breakup .
