This pedal is from a closed music store, was never sold at retail, and has been tested by me for function. It's hard to categorize distortion pedals, but if something enhances the mids, I call it an overdrive because it's basically trying to duplicate a pushed tube amp. Some distortion pedals do not push the mids so that the guitars are loud as hell, but you can't hear them because they have no mids!MXR calls this the Distortion III, but it's more like a hot overdrive because it definitely boosts the mids. It does seem to have more push than a tube screamer, and it can have an interesting nasal sounding mid bump (like a cocked wah wah pedal) if you turn the tone all the way down on the guitar. All in all a very cool pedal to try out.
