Dual Voltage Controlled Amplifier
The Dual VCA module offers of two voltage controlled amplifiers, numbered 1 and 2. The VCA stages are identical and feature a high quality analogue VCA based around the 2164 chip with very low noise and very low CV breakthrough. If the output socket of the first VCA channel is unused then that signal will be mixed with the output of the second channel.
Each VCA has two controls. With the GAIN knob you set the initial gain of the VCA. It can also be used as a volume control. The CV knob allows you to alter the sensitivity of the external CV that controls the VCA's gain. The pot is an attenuverter, so you are able to control not only the depth of the modulation but also the polarity. The VCAs are DC coupled and can therefore process both CVs and audio signals. With a switch each VCA can be set to respond either as a standard linear VCA, as an exponential VCA, or as a mixture of both response curves.
A Dual VCA module can used to crossfade between two signals, or pan one signal to either the left or right audio output.
