Aleatoric Sequence Generator
By Maplewood Technical
Tempered Chance is a random sequence generator used in modular synthesis, and is presently in an alpha prototype form for the Eurorack format. It is designed for discovering and controlling random, or chance, note sequences, in exploratory and performance scenarios.
It can adhere to various scales, from the traditional 12‑tone western scale, and many subscales, such as Minor Blues, Hungarian Gypsy, etc., to other microtonal scales, such as 5, 7, or 19-tone equal tempered scales. It can also generate more continuous, smoothly-changing random pitch variations.
The outputs are pitch control voltage (CV) and note playback gate signal. It has various operational modes, some of which include input of external clock and CV control of parameters.
A significant design goal of the module was to offer direct user control of common sequence parameters; there are lots of buttons for quick access to things.
