CBD2399 is the evolution of our first PT2399-based delay, redesigned in collaboration with Musik Arbeiter. What was once a simple, straightforward module has become an unstable and unpredictable instrument, capable of going beyond traditional delay repetitions.
The original passive filters have been replaced with 2-pole (12dB/Oct) resonant active filters, the same used in our AS2164 VCF, arranged in series to sculpt the harmonic content of the repeats up to self-oscillation. The filter frequencies can be modulated externally via CV.
The PT2399 has undergone circuit bending, resulting in four carefully selected behaviors: two distortions — one more controlled and one more aggressive — and two experimental modes, triggerable internally or via CV. When modulated with an ADSR, the effects reveal their full character, including unstable pitch modulation and a “percussive” mode in which the signal seems to fragment or collapse.
The Freeze function, controllable via button or CV, locks the signal at the exact moment it is engaged. When using CV, different voltage levels affect its behavior, turning the freeze into an expressive and dynamic tool rather than a simple static hold.
CBD2399 is not a clean or transparent delay: it is designed to be pushed, modulated, and destabilized, where repetition, filtering, and distortion become tools for sonic exploration.
